Cool2Care is dedicated to enriching the life opportunities of disabled children and young people and enabling them and their families to enjoy balanced and happy lives. Cool2Care was set up to help Shaun, the son of Phil and Keiko Conway, (pictured here) and thousands of disabled children like him throughout the UK. He is our inspiration. He moves us on a daily basis to achieve and demand better and greater support and facilities for families with disabled youngsters. Cool2Care believes passionately in Aiming High for Disabled Children, enabling them to access mainstream society and community activities and empowering them to do what they want to do. Cool2Care also believes that families need and deserve short breaks from their caring roles. We are looking forward to bringing you news and features of how we are living up to our vision, and keeping you connected with what is happening in your area in the arena of disability. * Inside this edition you will find profiles of our Gloucester team, Alicia Lawrence and Agy Pasek. * There is also a feature on Maxy, a young care-worker and PA from Surrey and the two girls she works with. * We applaud the achievements of Jason Clemons and his team, and thank him for his generous donation.
* We are delighted to announce even more new office openings!! Happy reading!

Spotlight: The Gloucester team! Alicia Lawrence (left) and Agy Pasek make up the Gloucester Team. Both have been working for Cool2Care for 6 months now but in that short time have developed the Gloucester business, have trained the first group of PAs, have taken family referrals and made their first placements. Here's what makes them tick!
Alicia Lawrence (Recruitment Manager): The sea, body boarding and seafood, the countryside, her two sons and husband, peace and quiet, old fashioned Sundays, close girlfriends, and holidaying in Britain, (when the weather's good!). She loves to go to the football to cheer on Ipswich Town with her family. She's very happy to be working for Cool2Care and enjoys knowing that the work she does is making a difference to people and is offering young people opportunities to help them progress and develop. Agy Pasek (Family Liaison Manager): Running, reading, riding, diving, exploring wild, remote and unknown countryside (including her native Poland), rare steaks, sushi, coffee ice-cream, her partner, friends and cheerful people! Agy shared her childhood home with a menagerie of exotic animals (ornamental locusts, Japanese jumping mice and guinea pigs, and there's some stories there) and her best childhood memory was of her little sister being born. "She was the sweetest, pinkest and most adorable thing ever." Agy loves "busyness" and relishes the opportunity to be in a creative, developing, innovative environment.
We're thrilled to have them in the Cool2Care team! Welcome girls!

Introducing Maxy - Care-worker and PA with Cool2Care Maxine trained with Cool2Care in Surrey in September 08, and has worked with two families since last October as a Care-worker and PA. She has also been an advisor on the development of the Young People's Board of Cool2Care. She's pictured here on the right on a 3 day barge trip with Becky. Here's her account of her role..... "Working as a carer through Cool2Care is a truly perfect job for me and fits well alongside my studies for a psychology degree at Surrey Uni. I care for two beautiful girls called Imogen and Becky and help their amazing families.
Both Imi and Becky have very different disabilities, needs and of course personalities. I have been given so much from these girls and their families in the forms of joy, affection and insight into their situations and the challenges they face in everyday life. I admire them all on a very deep level. The role can be challenging but it is also more importantly immensely fulfilling and rewarding. To be able to care for, support and give assistance to these girls and their families is very important to me and a pleasure. My role as a carer is very flexible and has so much variety, for instance, one day we will go swimming or for a walk, or just hang out and the next, we could be at a farm or a museum. I have even been lucky enough to assist on a barge trip with Becky's Guides!" Cool2Care is so proud of all it's care-workers and of the amazing work they do. We know our families are so happy to have you!

The Three Peaks for Cool2Care A team from the Godalming Round Table led by Jason Clemons, has raised £2,000 for Cool2Care by completing the Three Peaks Challenge. They scaled England's Scafell Pike, Mount Snowdon in Wales and Scotland's Ben Nevis in just 24 hours to raise money for children's charities including Cool2Care. The team started their challenge at 4pm on Friday 3rd July at Ben Nevis and finished at the base of Snowdon at 4pm the next day. The intrepid adventurers used a minibus to travel between the peaks and battled the best of the British summer weather (rain, snow, wind!), poor visibility and less than two hours sleep each to complete the trek. But Jason Clemons said that everyone enjoyed the challenge. "I had to run the last four miles to make sure we did it in less than 24 hours." he added. "It definitely was a challenge, but we have raised a lot of money for charity and that made it all worthwhile." Thank you Jason, and all who took part from the Godalming Round Table. We are very grateful for your donation. It will be put into our Charitable Trust and used to further develop relationships with Cool2Care partners in developing countries.

Cool2Care opens 3 more offices in the Autumn
Cool2Care is growing and expanding at an exciting, heart-stopping rate of knots! In January 2009, Cool2Care consisted of two offices, in Surrey and Birmingham. Now, nine months on, offices in Gloucester, Essex and the Isle of Wight (pink dots on the map) are also open and making placements. In these new locations, the first training courses have already taken place, family referrals are coming through, and placements are being made. "The new Cool2Care office openings is good news for us, but it's fantastic news for disabled children and their families who now have choice, and a real chance to improve their lives." said Phil Conway, Founder and CEO of Cool2Care. Offices in Worcestershire, Thurrock and North London will be opening in Autumn 2009 (blue dots on the map). We are looking forward to helping families here too.
Even more offices will be coming soon..... Watch this space, or visit our website, www.cool2care.co.uk
