Challenge
Toyota had an opportunity to sell Toyota insurance cover with every new car, but was unable to exploit this opportunity because the company did not have the right technology in place to make it happen. They wanted to be able to issue insurance cover notes on the forecourt at the time of car collection, not only to maximise insurance sales, but also to ensure that the customer has a cover note, as problems with missing or forgotten notes can frequently mean the customer having to leave the car on the forecourt, costing Toyota time and money. Toyota cover notes also create a valuable opportunity to collect a customer´s full details which are very important to Toyota in terms of creating opportunities for repeat sales.

Solution
Digi-products created a tailored system for Toyota to create personalised insurance cover notes quickly and easily at the time of sale. The system generates the seven day cover notes dynamically, pulling images and text from a database set up specially for this purpose. Each is time stamped, and logged, for audit purposes. If the customer accepts it, the cover note is printed at the dealer (and classed as a legal document) and handed to the customer for immediate use. Full details are e-mailed to the customer and a second e-mail is sent after four days, reminding them that their cover note will shortly expire and offering a full policy. Finally, the Digi-products system is highly scalable, allowing Toyota to create thousands of cover notes a month.

The highly scalable nature of the system means that there is no limit to the number of cover notes that can be created, without further cost to Toyota.
